The number of words my 13 year old wrote during the month of NaNoWriMo. Yeah, nearly 13 THOUSAND words. An 8th grader!

Of course, being 13, she didn’t bother to tell me she was even participating in NaNo, so I didn’t find this out until after the fact. But can you see the grin on my face?

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you what I’ve been up to the past couple of days, but I wanted to get this in and give my kid her due.  Brava!

  17. This is so very impressive! I think it took me six months to write my first 13,000 words. Well done. I’m also passing your story along to my 16 year old nephew who didn’t know about NaNo until the end of November so has taken on his own challenge of doing it in December ~ and is getting downhearted. So! Not only did you do an amazing thing, you’ll be helping someone else reach their goals. Doubly amazing thing, that.


  18. Well done you! Occasionally in life you do something that proves you can do anything you put your mind to. I think you just did that. For me it was the first time I walked the Portland to Coast relay, and the first time I had a book published. Congratulations!
