Today, March 8, 2011, marks the Centenary of International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national holiday. The holiday was first marked in 1911 as a celebration of the Suffragettes who fought so hard for the right of women to exercise the most fundamental of citizenship rights: the right to vote.

This year, the theme of IWD is equal access to education, training, science and technology. And if you think that because you live in a western country, you already have all that…perhaps Daniel Craig and Dame Judith Dench can enlighten you:

  1. And now I love Daniel Craig just a little bit more.

  2. That was enlightening and I have a lot of respect for Daniel Craig.

Thank you for sharing. It also points out my own ignorance/forgetfulness to the fact that women suffer everywhere not just in the States.

  3. Hi, @Julia and @Landra. I know. I just fell in crush with him a little more.

(And he makes a hell of a woman, too, doesn’t he? 🙂 )
